Type Material
Holotype: “Male holotype from Gillespie County, Texas, June 14, 1934, by J. N. Knull, in AMNH” (Muma, 1970, p. 25).
Measurements:
Palpal Description: Palpal scopula of 50-100 papillae (Muma, 1970)
Ctenidia Description: “2 short thickened ctenidia” (Muma, 1970, p. 25). Operculum Description: “Females are readily distinguished by medially bowed opercula” (Muma, 1970, p. 25). Chelicerae Description: “Males have a dorsally curved fixed cheliceral finger” (Muma, 1970, p. 25).
Diagnosis:
Other Information: “This species was referred to as E. californicus on the basis of Roewer’s (1934) description and figures. Examination of Simon’s type has revealed that it is immature and cannot be properly placed according to presently recognized characters and systematics. The specimens described by Muma (1951) are, therefore, renamed here” (Muma, 1970, p. 25). Eremobates simony – male holotype AMNH June 14, 1934; Gillespie Co. Texas. Coll. J.N. Knull.
