Field Guide to Grasshoppers, Katydids, and Crickets of the United States
Long and slender-bodied, like the other so-called toothpick grasshoppers. Face is strongly slanted. Antennae are sword-shaped. Color is variable but tends to be uniform within an individual. Colors may be light green, gray, light brown, pink, or yellowish. A whitish stripe extends from the lower border of the eyes to the bases of the middle legs. Forewings are pointed and shortened, only reaching the fifth abdominal segment. Abdomen is long and cylindrical; the subgenital plate of the male is markedly pointed. Males are 19-31 mm long, females 25-40 mm.
