Field Guide to Grasshoppers, Katydids, and Crickets of the United States
A fairly large, gray-colored grasshopper. Forewings are marked with small spots that sometimes coalesce to form bands. Hind wings are pale yellow basally and bear a weak to distinct black band centrally. Lateral margin of the hind wing is concave. Some of the veins of the hind wing are thickened. Hind tibiae are yellow, brown, or bluish. Males are 30-40 mm long, females 34-49 mm.
