A common desert grasshopper, adult size between 20-32 mm, grey or red-gray pale colour, with long, spotted tegminae. Tip of pronotal disk darkened, dorsal hind femora banded, terricole life form; it is closely associated with gravely zones, and it is very rarely observed it on fine-textured grounds, Otte (1981) considers it a ubiquitous species of the SW of the EUA. In MBR adults can be observed from May to October. There is little regional information on this species due to great seasonal variability and yearly variability.
