This species is light brown dorsally and greenish or brownish laterally. Often a black stripe extends back from the eye across the lateral lobes of the pronotum. Forewings are grayish or yellowish, broadly rounded at the tip, and variable in length. Abdominal segments are yellowish, with black patches laterally. In most cases, the females are short-winged, and the males bear wings that extend to about the tip of the abdomen. Antennae are long, yellow basally but often black at the tip. Tips of the femora are black. Hind tibiae are yellow or orange. Males are 12-20 mm long, females about 20-35 mm.
