Field Guide to Grasshoppers, Katydids, and Crickets of the United States
A medium-size grasshopper, bluish gray to reddish brown. A dark stripe extends from the back of the eye across the lateral lobes of the pronotum. Forewings are not well-marked, though they bear a few dark spots along the midline. Hind femora are yellow with two dark, irregular bands. Hind tibiae are bluish gray. Males are 19-23 mm long, females 22-26 mm.
In males, the cerci are wide basally, curving slightly and tapering to a blunt point. The furcula is about one-third or one-half the length of the supra-anal plate, divergent, and blunt at the tips. |
